A shot at a different Tier [UU]

Postby Pokelol » 20 May 2010, 16:25

Alrighty, I tried to make a UU team, to see how it would turn out. I can´t get shoddy downloaded, so I can´t test the team. I´m sorry.

---

Starting out. I wanted to get something up, so that I could inflict damage each time they would switch. I thought of Stealth Rock. Also, I wanted something bulky to set it up.

Image

Claydol @ Leftovers
252 HP, 128 Defense, 128 Speciel Defense
Bold (+ Defense, - Attack)
Ability; Levitate

- Earth Power
- Stealth Rock
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic

It sets up Rocks, putting Toxic on the opponent and Spin my opponents stuff away. Earth Power because I needed an attack. I have considered Explosion over Earth Power, but I need Rocks, and I would like to keep it as a Spinner later on.

---

Next,I played with the thougt about a Speciel Wall, and I found one pokemon, that I liked, having the resistances Claydol needed. I´m talking Milotic

Image

Milotic @ Leftovers
252 HP, 252 Speciel Defense, 4 Speed
Calm (+ Speciel Defense, - Attack)
Ability; Marvel Scale

- Surf
- Toxic
- Recover
- Mirror Coat

It´s a great speciel wall. Yea, it only has one attack, but I believe that it doesn´t need another attack. It has Toxic to cripple opponents, to damage other Water types. Recover to heal it. I thought about Aqua Ring, but chose Recover. Mirror Coat to sponge back Speciel Attack.

---

Now, not knowing what I needed, I chose a pokemon that i adore a bit. It has great defenses, and even better speciel attack. It´s a little bit different than most versions of it, but I like it. Most uses it defensively, but mixed isn´t bad, Ay?

Image

Porygon2 @ Leftovers
252 HP, 128 Defense, 128 Speciel Defense
Bold (+ Defense, - Attack)
Ability; Trace

- Charge Beam
- Ice Beam
- Recover
- Tri Attack

I´m going defensively, with Recover as the healing move. Charge Beam to boost Speciel Attack and doing damage, Tri Attack as a strong attack, and a STAB move, Ice Beam for coverage.

---

I have never really been the defensive type, when coming to pokemons in use. I have also believed in, that the best defense is a good offense, but I´m going again my own though when heading towards the next thing on my team. I´m going Defensively, and this time, it´s not speciel.

Image

Weezing @ Black Sludge
252 HP, 252 Defense, 4 Speciel Attack
Bold (+ Defense, - Attack)
Ablity; Levitate

- Will-o-Wisp
- Pain Split
- Fire Blast
- Thunder Bolt / Sludge Bomb

I like this thing, and I believe it will work great. I first saw this thing in action in one of Uuttons videos, and it worked great. Will-o-Wisp to cripple the opponent, Pain Split as the healing move. I know it can be difficult to use Pain Split to heal me up, but it can work great. Fire Blast for coverage. I can´t choose between Thunder Bolt and Sludge Bomb. Sludge Bomb is a great STAB move, but T-Bolt provides better coverage.

---

I have talked with Kirluu in long time about help to an UU team, and we came across this one. We discussed a set, that I like, but it is not the same as this one. I have seen this in a couple of videos, and think it would be cool to use it.

Image

Arcanine @ Life Orb
252 Attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP
Jolly (+ Speed, - Speciel Attack)
Ability; Flash Fire

- Flare Blitz
- Reversal
- Extremespeed
- Thunder Fang

With Life Orb, I can deal some damage to my opponent. Flare Blitz as the STAB move, Extremespeed to revenge kill, Thunder Fang for coverage. Reversal when I get down in health. Options for changeing Thunder Fang?

---

After this, I missed one pokemon. I didn´t know what I missed, until I found out, that I didn´t have any speciel Attackers. I thought about a pokemon which I have seen used as a Annoyer many times. The pokemon I chose is...

Image

Rotom @ Choice Scarf
252 Speed, 252 Speciel Attack, 4 HP
Modest (+ Speciel, - Attack)
Ability; Levitate

- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Trick
- Thunder Wave / Will-o-Wisp / Signal Beam

Trick to annoy my opponent when I feel like using Trick. Shadow Ball and Thunder Bolt for STAB. I can´t think which move to pick. Thunder Wave can be annoying, so can Will, but Signal Beam are great for coverage.

---

That was my team, now YOU can start ripping it apart, or just give comment that would help it to be better.

Hi there. Nice team and it seems you've put some thought into it, so here is what i think about it.

Nice lead there, classic stealth rock and also countering the opponent's rocks with rapid spin. Though i would go with a more classic lead like:
UXIE
Leftovers
252HP/252DEF/4ATK
Impish with Levitate

-Stealth rock
-U-turn
-Thunder wave
-Zen headbutt

---

Next,I played with the thougt about a Speciel Wall, and I found one pokemon, that I liked, having the resistances Claydol needed. I´m talking Milotic

All good here, like the toxic-coat combination

I also like porygon, and you've got a classic set which is very effective in hitting hard and covering at tha same time. But i would suggest a slite change in the EVs: 100HP/152ATK/128DEF/128SDEF, to boost its special attack a litttle bit, in order to hit harder and not waste its good base.

I have never really been the defensive type, when coming to pokemons in use. I have also believed in, that the best defense is a good offense, but I´m going again my own though when heading towards the next thing on my team. I´m going Defensively, and this time, it´s not speciel.

Good thinking here, and as far as i'm concerned go for the stab. Sludge bomb is a really good move and has a high probability for poisoning

Since you talked with Kirluu, this couldn't be missing your team. ;) I totally agree by the way and it provides you eith a priority move, and i think every good poke team should have one. I would replace reversal though with overheat, cause i don't see it fitting a lot in this set which is pretty agressive and your item doesn't support this move either. Instead thunder fung you could use toxic as a last resort, but i don't see why to replace it...

Rotom is a decent choice. Between the three moves you have a dought about, i would peek signal beam, as you have already in your team the other two refered. But allow me to propose another special sweeper sollution

MISMAGIUS
Choice Scarf
252SP/252SATK/4HP
Timid
Levitate

-Shadow Ball
-Thunderbolt
-HP Fighting
-Trick

Using this you have both speed and power. Shadow ball to along with HP fighting give Mismagious a great coverage aspect along with the ghost-stab-move to deal great damage. Thunderbolt if any annoying water type sets up or even trick to force a switch on a ste up.

---

That was my team, now YOU can start ripping it apart, or just give comment that would help it to be better.

Anyway, good job there :D

I see the idea with Uxie, but would Zen Headbutt work? I´m thinking Yawn instead of Zen Headbutt, to either force a switch or making the opponents pokemon sleep. When they switch, Uxie can use Thunder Wave to slow down the switch in. I like your idea.

You mean 152 SpATK? I see the meaning of it, I just wanted to make it as bulky as possible, to get it to live longer.

I have never really been the defensive type, when coming to pokemons in use. I have also believed in, that the best defense is a good offense, but I´m going again my own though when heading towards the next thing on my team. I´m going Defensively, and this time, it´s not speciel.

Thunderbolt is mostly for waters, but a STAB Sludge Bomb could possibly do it as good as a Thunderbolt

With Life Orb, it is losing 10% of its maximum helath every turn, meaning Reversal will become stronger and stronger for every turn it attacks

I will consider it, but it´s a little bit hard to get Hidden Power Fighting without breeding a lot of eggs

Well, given that STAB equals to 1,5 times damage, and Super Effectiveness is 2 times damage, Then Thunderbolt is better. It is also super effective to more things than Poison is. (At least it is, as I recall ^^) I'd go for Thunderbolt, none the less. :P
