Political discussion?

Postby H-con » 08 Mar 2010, 21:26

To put it short, would you like to see a place for political discussion, or to define it, discussion of general events in the world, discussion of politics and discussion of science? I can't possibly be the only one that's somewhat interested in this, because creating (yet another) sub-forum with little to no activity seems pointless to me.

I'm interested. But why not create a debate-forum?

Unfortunately, political debates tend to end up becoming flame wars all by themselves...

Make a thread, you don´t need a whole forum on that. At least not at this point... imo.
E: Depends on what kind of discussion you meant. :P

One thread for all kinds of political debates and discussions? Are you actually serious?

Then I don't know what forums you're going to, because it's easy to have a normal conversation without flaming. Besides, with active moderation, that won't even be a problem really.

And besides, we got our own forum for books, music and TV/movies as separate (with a grand total of 9 threads...). I mean, if we can have those separate, then why not a place for political/scientific discussion? That has way more significance than any books and music, and in particular sports, because if we can have an entire sub-forum just for sports, then I wonder why this shouldn't receive the honor

Also, to answer Yellow Rayquaza, seriously?

Okay, I asked Troels, and he suggested we could try out debate threads in other stuff and see if it gets enough attention to warrant a section. Sounds good?

I agree to making a sub-forum for it. This way a lot of discussions about a lot of things can actually be done instead of for example going off-topic in a thread that looks like it, but isn't about it.

I can vaguely remember I proposed the same for the Sports section in the mod-forum, but I can agree with that. The thing is to start a discussion, I think an event in the world today, especially for Europeans, would be a place to start. I'll go set off some discussion then, all I need to do is find a suitable topic, and I think I know what to use...
