No-weakness Team

Postby Kirluu » 02 Mar 2010, 16:53

Yeah, so I came with a shot on a team that has as few weaknesses as possible ^^'

Basically it's surposed to sweep, but while not being sweeped, if you get what I'm saying x3

Anyways, the lead, and the rest to follow:

Image
Dusknoir (M) @ Leftovers
Nickname: DefMach
Nature: Adamant (+ Atk. - Sp.Atk.)
Ability: Pressure

Brick Break
Shadow Punch
Will-o-whisp
Payback

EVs: 252 Atk., 252 HP, 4 Def.

Idea: Basically he is to hit hard, while having moves capable of defending himself, and Brick Break also taking down an eventual Light Screen/Reflect. Payback as a Dark-Type move, that's good considering people wont damage him that easily, meaning he'll take one punch(at least), and then blow them away.

Image
Spiritomb (M) @ Leftovers
Nickname: TomeOfSpirit
Nature: Modest (+ Sp.Atk. - Atk.)
Ability: Pressure

Nasty Plot
Dark Pulse
Psychic
Pain Split

EVs: 252 Sp.Atk., 252 HP, 4 Def.

Idea: Well, pretty hard hitting after the first Nasty Plot, and then Pain Split to regain health, knowing I have a turn before dying. This is ofc. best against a pokémon with much and full HP x3 Elsewhat, a sweeper, in a slow kind of way xD

Image
Registeel (GL) @ Leftovers
Nickname: ToughGuy
Nature: Adamant (+ Atk. - Sp.Atk.)
Ability: Clear Body

Stealth Rock
Ice Punch
Iron Head
Giga Impact

Idea: Another ruthless, but defending attacker. Not exactly wild attack-stat, but Giga Impact as a well packing move, to use in "situations". And the SR just to have it somewhere...

Image
Blissey (F) @ Leftovers
Nature: Calm
Ability: Natural Cure

Sesimic Toss
Ice Beam
Thunder Wave
Softboiled

EVs: 152 HP., 252 Def., 104 Sp.Atk.

Idea: Well, not sure how to get the Seismic Toss, but if I had it it'd be great x.x Other than that, it is to paralyze pretty much the entire other team. I'm thinking of shifting Seismic Toss with Stealth Rock due to the problem of getting the actual move. (I can't check IVs in LeafGreen, and the Seismic Toss must be given in LeafGreen, so that way it'd be troublesome as the move tutor only teaches Seismic Toss once...)

Image
Zapdos (GL) @ Life Orb
Nickname: TheZ
Nature: Modest (+ Sp.Atk. - Atk.)
Ability: Pressure

Thunderbolt
Heat Wave
Hidden Power [Ice]
Roost

EVs: 252 Sp.Atk., 252 Spd., 4 HP

Idea: Credits for Mew on this one... It might just work... In any case, a mix between electric and fire, and then roost to protect it from moves which are pointed towards flying types. However, timed wrong, and against the wrong pokémon it might end up getting pwnd by EQ, but yet. The Hidden Power I am doubting as it is hard to get that, and get good IVs at the same time x3

Image
Azelf (GL) @ Life Orb
Nickname: OptimumOwn
Nature: Modest (+ Sp.Atk. - Atk.)
Ability: Levitate

Thunderbolt
Flamethrower
Nasty Plot
Psychic

EVs: 252 Sp.Atk., 252 Spd., 4 HP

Idea: Alright, so now, I'm sure it's classic Azelf, and should work okay after the first Nasty Plot... Not much to explain.

Good.

You should swap Psychic for Hidden Power [Fighting], which makes it possible to hit everything. other than that, good.

Image
Registeel (GL) @ Leftovers
Nickname: ToughGuy
Nature: Adamant (+ Atk. - Sp.Atk.)
Ability: Clear Body

Stealth Rock
Ice Punch
Iron Head
Giga Impact

Idea: Another ruthless, but defending attacker. Not exactly wild attack-stat, but Giga Impact as a well packing move, to use in "situations". And the SR just to have it somewhere...

You should consider giving it Curse, as it's slow already but its attack could use a boost. It is sooo dangerous after one Curse already. Giga Impact shouldn't be used as you can't afford the recharge-turn. Give it explosion instead.

Image
Porygon-Z (GL) @ Custap Berry
Nickname: CasualBeast
Nature: Modest (+ Sp.Atk. - Atk.)
Ability: Download

Dark Pulse
Psychic
Nasty Plot
Tri Attack

EVs: 252 Sp.Atk., 252 HP, 4 Def.

Idea: Yeah, one kick-ass Sp.Attacker... Tri Attack for STAB, Nasty for ultimate damage, Psychic for Fighting-weakess, and Dark Pulse for Psychics, Ghosts etc.

Good, but you might want to consider to swap one of the attacks for an elemental beam, to improve coverage.

Image
Zapdos (GL) @ Focus Sash
Nickname: TheZ
Nature: Modest (+ Sp.Atk. - Atk.)
Ability: Pressure

Thunder
Ancientpower / Roost
Air Cutter
Thunder Wave

EVs: 252 Sp.Atk., 252 Spd., 4 HP

Idea: Well, dunno about the item with this one... And uhm... I want Roost, but Ancientpower seems to be able to come in handy as well =/ Elsewhat, it should do well with Thunder, even though the accuracy might be a problem, but I didn't see space for Rain Dance - even though it kinda benefits the rest of the team... (Those with Fire-weakness)

No Focus Sash. You should make it offensive. Here's a very good set for it:

Modest Zapdos @ Life Orb
6 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Thunderbolt
Heat Wave
Hidden Power [Ice]
Roost

Roost is a must on Zapdos, as it's healing and you can lose that Rock-weakness for one turn.

Image
Azelf (GL) @ Choice Scarf
Nickname: OptimumOwn
Nature: Modest (+ Sp.Atk. - Atk.)
Ability: Levitate

Thunderbolt
Flamethrower
Ice Beam
Psychic

EVs: 252 Sp.Atk., 252 Spd., 4 HP

Idea: Since I don't battle too much, I'm not sure if it's exactly "classic", but it seems pretty much just to go, like that, if you know what I mean. To eliminate pretty much most threats.

Nasty Plot for Flamethrower Next to that, good.

I see Hidden Power being rather difficult...? I mean, you don't exactly choose your own Hidden Power =/ I think... xD

Yes, I see the thing with Explosion and Giga Impact, and Curse must work well too, however which move should be taken out? I'm guessing I should take away Ice Punch in order to keep my STAB-move, but...

Tri Attack can hit most types, and if not so well, then either Dark or Psychic works... So I think "coverage" is fine, however dealing super effective hits would be the reason for an elemental beam.

Oh yeah, I completely forgot about Roost's second ability x3 And I didn't really think about using fire-moves on it... Thanks for the advice, however the Hidden Power might not be so bright an idea, due to the same thing I said with the other pokémon you wanted Hidden Power on...

Nasty Plot for Flamethrower Next to that, good.

Since it has Choice Scarf, that shouldn't be needed, I persume. Choice Scarf is like a Nasty Plot made beforehand, if I know correctly. Or does it only suffice for half of Nasty Plot's effectiveness?

Kirluu, in regards to Azelf: I think you are mistaking choice Scarf for Choice Specs.

Oh, right, I am mistaken xD As I say, I don't play competitive much, and as such I don't use these items much xD Thanks for noticing, though.

Of course I forgot to mention that Azelf is better off with a Life Orb, as after a Nasty plot its Special Attack will be monstrously.

About the hidden Powers, you could trade for the desired Hidden Power ;). It's not that hard.

Isn't the Hidden Power determined by the IVs? First of all I'll need good IVs, but if they don't fit with the desired HP, then it's useless, right? x.x I surpose... But I think Nasty Plot might be a thing too much to ask of an Azelf =/ With it's low defences I mean.

Yeah, the Hidden Power is determined by the IVs and therefore you can breed for it. You still need some luck though. Nasty Plot Azelf was very popular at the very beginning of DP, but with the raise of Scizor, Heatran and the popularity of Choice Scarf it became a little downfall. It is still very effective if you manage to avoid Scizor and generally faster Pokémon. A +2 Life Orb STAB Psychic from 125 Base is very hard to take, even Blissey needs to be at very good health to not being 2HKOed after Stealth Rock. Psychic/Fire Blast/Grass Knot covers pretty much everything much not called Heatran. It does not get Ice Beam, however, your moveset is illegal.

Ah yes, well spotted... I pretty much just assumed it could do all 3 o.o

I surpose that should be the spot of Nasty Plot, and that it should have Life Orb, then, right? Does anyone know how much of a percentage Life Orb raises the attack's damage by?

smogon wrote:Moves used by the holder deal 30% more damage. The holder takes damage equal to 10% of its max HP rounded down each turn it successfully lands an attack that directly deals damage. Rock Head does not block this damage. Life Orb does not damage the holder if the attack hits a Substitute. Life Orb does not boost the power of set damage moves like Seismic Toss, but still deals recoil damage if they hit. Life Orb does not boost the damage caused by confusion, nor does it deal additional recoil damage when a Pokemon hurts itself in confusion.

Yes, that would be the best for Azelf in this team.
